Plus, it gives you a chance to practice fun nail designs and showcase trending colors. Of course, you don’t want to consume nail polish, so if a manicure doesn’t deter you from biting your nails, then you should find another way to combat the problem.
2. Replace it with a safer habit
Having a nervous habit isn’t necessarily a bad thing; it only turns sour when it affects your health and daily life. Switching your nail biting for something that won’t mess up your manicure may be the answer to restoring long, healthy nails and pain-free finger tips. Since biting nails is often just something done to keep busy, try replacing this habit with chewing gum or playing with a hair tie on your wrist.
3. Remove the option
No, you shouldn’t literally remove your finger nails. However, you can make it extremely difficult to bite them. Additionally, you may be tempted to bite your nails when they catch on fabric or you can feel them breaking. Remove this temptation completely by filing them into a smooth surface.

Nail biting is an extremely common habit, so there are plenty of products that have been developed to help people combat this issue. At your local drug store, you can find nail polish made specifically for people who want to stop biting their nails. These anti-nail-biting polishes paint on like a clear coat, but they taste awful. This is especially beneficial for people who subconsciously bite their nails because the foul taste will remind them of what they are doing.
